Part 1 Christmas Beauty Advent Calendar Guide - BUDGET VERSION (£5 - £20)

In recent years Advent Calendars have evolved to much more than just stale chocolates in flimsy cardboard casing (not that I'd ever turn them away) now they are a thing of beauty - quite literally! But with so many on the market, which ones should you go for? I have decided to help with this predicament with a three part blog post that details all the beauty advent calendars you could shake a candy cane at!

This first instalment is for cheap and cheerful Christmas Advent Calendars for beauty on a budget. My top 20 under £20 with the cheapest being just £5! I hope you enjoy!

🎅 It's Kissmas Cosmetic Advent Calendar - Wilkinsons £5
This cute advent calendar is the biggest bargain of the whole bunch, at just £5 it is (in the words of David Dickinson) "cheap as chips" or mistletoe for a festive twist. You can't go wrong with 24 beauty treats taking you up to Christmas Eve full of eyeliners, bronzers, blushers, eye shadows, brushes, mascara, nail varnish and nail art supplies. I think this would be perfect for teenagers who are just getting into make up!

🎅 Flutter Beauty Advent Calendar - Superdrug £8
The design on this is essentially a big pink townhouse full of puppies in Christmas regalia - if that hasn't sold you already I don't know what will! Inside the mans best friend mansion contains girls best friend - 24 beauty products for a very reasonable price of £8! Eye shadows, lip glosses and lip balms. I was a little disappointed that 8 days are taken up with "eye and lip applicators." I think from the packaging, the products and the price this may be aimed at Tweens and early teens!

🎅 Technic 12 Days of Xmas Beauty Advent Calendar - Superdrug £8
A lot of budget beauty advent calendars half the amount of products, so you get the Twelve Days of Christmas rather than the whole countdown shebang. A good concept as you hope for quality over quantity, but still in your price range. I like the modern design of the gift type boxes of this one with the numbers wrote in words to add a quirky twist any writer would be proud of. I wouldn't say the quality of products is amazing but for the price it's decent.

🎅 Studio London 12 Days of Christmas Beauty Calendar - Superdrug £8
This one has quite literally nailed it! I have always lusted after the many nail extravaganzas of Advent Calendars about, and this is the perfect budget version! I spotted this in Superdrug with a display of all 12 nail varnishes inside - 4 glitter and 8 high shine. All a decent size and a good range of colours. I also like the idea of having different nails everyday for Christmas! If my hands are out of the tin of Cadbury Roses long enough...

🎅 Sweet Snuggles 12 Days of Christmas - Superdrug £8
Although it shares the '12 Days of Christmas' name as many of the others, the contents of this are quite different. 12 items to cosy up with a nice hot bath and pamper yourself! Body lotions, scrubs and bath fizzers. I do find it ruins the surprise element a little as you can see in the windows, but at least you know what you're getting. A good gift idea and worth it for £8.

🎅 Beauty Junkie 7 Day Surprise Advent Calendar - Superdrug £8
I'm not sure what the surprise element is - perhaps that it's not actually considered an Advent Calendar if it only counts down a week? The traditional numbers on the doors are replaced with days of the week meaning you have to wait until the 19th to start your countdown leading up to Christmas Day! Also it doesn't look very Christmassy at all. Containing mainly nail products and hair chalk I've never seen one with so little products, but still not be the cheapest on the list.

🎅 Technic Wreath Advent Calendar - Studio £9.99
Even though it looks more like a box of Turkish Delight than a wreath, I really like this one. It's not big and bulky so could almost double up as a decoration! Inside are 24 products ranging from lip glosses to nail varnishes that surprisingly aren't covered in powdered sugar!

🎅 Cool Cosmetic Advent Calendar - The Works £10
Correct me if I'm wrong but the packaging reminds me more of Easter than Christmas. What caught my attention was the contents. It has 24 products such as duo eye shadows, "flower shaped nail varnishes", body stencils, body glue, gems and glitter! I shall be sat on Christmas Day looking like a bauble with a smokey eye!

🎅 Technic Cube Beauty Advent Calendar - Superdrug £10
How they managed to fit 24 goodies into a cube beats me - whoever designed this must be a Tetris champion! I was surprised to see that the contents are not just the standard eye shadows and lip glosses, but lip liners, a mirror, eyeshadow quads, liquid liners and best of all - FALSE EYELASHES! Anyone who knows me knows my love for the eyelash enhancers (I even tried to put them on my car but failed and it looked more like a car beard...) I love this one and think it has a great variety of good products

🎅 Candy Couture Make Up Advent Calendar - Matalan £10
Firstly Candy Couture sounds like something a Kardashian would bring out, but this Advent Calendar is very aesthetically pleasing with its cosy print. Inside are 24 make up items and I especially like the inclusion of nail gems and a sharpener to make sure the points of your Christmas Kohls are always on point.

🎅 MAD Beauty 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar - ASOS £10.99
A triangle box at Christmas that ISN'T Toblerone? You must be MAD... Encased in the prism are 12 beauty treats that focus more on the pamper side of things with bath fizzers, a body wash and even bath salts! All you need is some yummy candles and fluffy slippers, which probably wouldn't have fitted behind the little doors.

🎅 Sugar + Spice Festive Cosmetic Advent Calendar - Studio £14.99
Emblazoned with a pink sleigh and a mixture of calligraphy words and numbers it's very modern looking and has 24 products that are actually good quality! Theres eyeshadow trios, gel eyeliner pots, and even a beaded bracelet! Sugar, spice + all things nice!

🎅 W7 Advent Calendar Gift Set - Beauty Base £15
This is what I like to refer to as the 'double decker!' A lot of high end advent calendars have this where they open up to a sort of two page spread if you will. I find it gives a luxury look and means there's bigger products inside with 8 lipsticks, 5 nail varnishes, a full length mascara and nail gems because as W7 put it so correctly "There's not much better than chocolate, but makeup sure comes close!"

🎅 Tanya Burr 12 Day Beauty Calendar - Superdrug £15
YouTube addicts will love this one! Make Up Artist Tanya Burr has released her Advent Calendar again this year full of 12 of her products from her range that all have very apt and very cute Christmas inspired names; "Sleigh Bells Nail Polish" + "Christmas Stocking Matte Lip" to name a few! I like the slightly James-Bond-meets-Downton-Abbey theme with the shadowy figures!

🎅 Bomb Cosmetics The Bomb Advent Calendar - Amazon £15.06
I would say this is the budget version of the Lush Advent Calendar. It is full of 24 bath bombs that are "Handmade and wrapped by our little bomb elves at the bomb pole" which sounds quite dangerous and I hope he had armour, but looks beautiful! All the products are made with essential oils and natural ingredients and are not tested on animals so a really good one for us Vegans.

🎅 Active Cosmetics 24 Treats Countdown to Christmas - Amazon £16.49
The packaging proves you can make a Christmas Tree out of a ribbon, and the inside proves you can hide away 12 eyeshadow quads, lip and cheek products and a purse in one Advent Calendar! That truly is the magic of Christmas?

🎅 Technic London Bus Cosmetic Advent Calendar - Amazon £16.99
Nothing says London more than a good old red double decker bus, driving past Big Ben in the cold snowy weather! This Advent Calendar would be perfect for tourists or for lovers of London with 3 eyeshadow quads, lip and nail products as well as a mirror and make up tools! This is one bus I wouldn't mind running for!

🎅 OH K! Advent Calendar - White Mint £18
I've never heard of this brand before but the cute minimal design and the sassy name sucked me in. This is a Korean beauty trend inspired advent calendar of 12 days that contain treats for your nails, lips and eyes!

🎅 Beauty Advent Calendar - Prezzybox £18.95
The striking pink decorations on a black background is very chic and would look great on a dressing table. The contents would look equally as great on your dressing table with eye shadow quads in pink hues and neutral earthy tones, lip and face products and even some Christmas nail stickers to get your manicure in the festive spirit!

🎅 Yankee Candle Advent Calendar 2016 - Boots £20
Number 20 on my list is not exactly a beauty advent calendar but it's something that you can use to pamper and treat yourself (and your home) with - 24 Yankee Candle Tea lights! I love the idea of opening a gorgeous Christmas scented candle everyday to use over the Christmas period! With scents like "spiced orange", "Christmas cookie" and "cosy by the fire" you will feel like you're in your own little grotto!
