Primer - LUSH Skin Drink Moisturiser
As the weather becomes colder and we have the central heating on in our homes, our skin needs a little more attention. Mine tends to get a bit dryer so I need a thicker, more moisturising primer. I love to use LUSH Skin Drink as that's just what my skin needs - a good old drink to hydrate it again! It goes on really creamy - probably due to all the "nourishing oils and butters" and the fact it contains actual avocado! I'm used to having it on my toast, not my t-zone! It smells beautiful, of rose and orange neroli, which is a real treat when I apply it as part of my morning skincare regime and let it sink in while I have some more avocado...but this time on toast!
Foundation - Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation (SPF 15)
I love this foundation all year round, but especially when we come into the winter months as I like to opt for a more fuller and buildable coverage, which this gives beautifully! The shade range is fantastic - with a whopping 25 to choose from, there is something for everyone! It also contains SPF15 which is really important as a lot of people are under the illusion that you only need to protect against the sun in the summer - this isn't the case! Even if it's cloudy and pouring with rain (living in London that's quite often) still wear it and your skin will thank you for it! SPF can be something that you forget to apply, so by having it in your foundation it's a little reminder and saves you having to layer up another product.
Concealer - Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer
I don't know about you but as soon as I step out into Autumn weather, I seem to unintentionally turn into a Rudolph tribute act with a red nose and red cheeks to match! I combat this with a good helping of concealer. The Tarte Shape Tape one has an amazing consistency that is thin enough to apply and blend seamlessly, but thick enough to give the desired coverage that lasts all day. I like to use two shades from this range for two different purposes. The first is "Fair" which I use to de-Rudolph myself, cover under my eyes and to highlight the high points of my face. The second is "tan" which I use to contour my cheekbones as I find this is a good way to achieve a natural version of the cream contour look.
Blusher - NYX Baked Blush (Statement Red)
Another Autumn make up change is I like to ham up the blush a bit, it sounds ridiculous that I use the concealer to cover up natural redness but replace it with artificial ones! I find a slightly more red/plum toned blush works really well with earthy toned eyes and a burgundy lip - which happens to be my go to look! A red blush can be quite a daunting thing as Coco the Clown visions flash before you - if you use a very light hand with an angled fluffy brush you'll get the right effect and won't resemble Ronald McDonald's sister! This blush is really good, it doesn't add a cakey residue or appear to gather in one area which is perfect if you skin does get dryer at the time of year.
Eyeshadow Palette - Elf Studio Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette
I think the typical seasonal make up trend of the moment has definitely got to be earthy
toned eyes, to match the brown and coppery tones of the leaves. I also personally love a gold look as we get nearer to Christmas. I found this Elf Palette and fell in love - it has all the perfect shades I look for, which allows me to create different looks everyday, has no fall out and doesn't crease! It reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes and is also both cruelty free and vegan! Additionally- it's called Rose Gold...what more could you ask for?
Coloured Eyeliner - Lush Liquid Eyeliners - "Control" + "Fantasy"
Somedays I like to do just a simple make up look, without too many products, but still have an element that makes it pop. That's where colourful eyeliners come into play! By applying a popping colour on the lash line it gives you an edgy look in seconds! I've found the most pigmented to be by LUSH. The first one I came across was "Control" which looks like a little vile of blue ink (and brings to mind "the pen is BLUE" scene in Liar Liar!) I also love
"Fantasy" which is a beautiful gold and looks great under the lower lashes or over the lid!
Eyelashes - Ardell Wispies Black
Long lashes pair perfectly with a dark red lip for Autumn. I unfortunately have natural stubby ones that even eyelash curlers perform pathetically on, so therefore since the age of 15 I have been a False Eyelash Addict! Depending on the occasion or mood I have different styles, but my favourite day to day lashes has got to be a long and fluttery pair, such as Ardell Wispies in Black (or brown for a natural look).
Mascara - Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
An alternative (or enhancement) to false lashes is a good mascara, and this Ione claims to be amazing - just by the name alone! I love the wand on this mascara and how it only needs one or two coats to fully adhere to all of your lashes, making them look extra long and extra full! It also doesn't leave those annoying blobs under your lower lash line throughout the day which is an added bonus!
Lip balm - LUSH Rose Lollipop Lip Balm
If there's one thing you take from this list, it HAS to be lip balm! The colder weather does to lips what potholes do to roads! I love to slather my lips in a moisturising lip balm night and day to ensure they stay soft and supple. This Lollipop one from LUSH smells and tastes amazing! You could also use coconut oil - or both!
Lipstick - Dark Berrys + Rich Reds
As soon as it gets into September, my Autumn lippies come out! I enjoy wearing deep berry shades, bold red lips and the occasional soft brown. I pair them with a soft neutral smokey
eye and fluttering lashes! Some of my favourites are:
- Lush Decisive Lipstick (a gorgeous deep cherry red)
- Lush Confident Lipstick (a luxurious rich burgundy)
- Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick Melted Berry (a bold berry shade)
I like to line my lips with Too Faced Perfect Lips Lip Liner in Perfect Berry to compliment the lipsticks. Sometimes I will opt for a matte finish and for that I reach for the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks.
To match my lips, I enjoy wearing either a plum, berry, red or browny copper shade of nail varnish. At the moment I'm really loving "Berry Poncho" by Ciate. I'd also love to curl up in a cosy Berry Poncho too!
So there you have my roundup of some products that will take your make up looks from Summer to Autumn! I hope you enjoyed! All of the above are by cruelty free brands and are suitable for vegans. If you would like to see more brands and products that are then you can check out this list from PETA...
Thank you for reading!
